Elon Musk Set to Unveil Tesla Robotaxi at Warner Bros. Studios
Elon Musk is planning to reveal Tesla’s new robotaxi on October 10 at the Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California. Originally scheduled for August 8, the event was delayed by Musk for reasons that remain unclear. Many are now speculating about the true progress of this mysterious vehicle.
Why the Delay?
The event was first announced in April, the same day that Tesla reportedly abandoned plans for a low-cost electric car, a move Musk initially denied. However, later reports suggest the rumors were true. To shift the focus, Musk hinted at the upcoming robotaxi, but fans were left disappointed when the unveiling was pushed to October. According to reports, Tesla needed more time to create working prototypes.
Autonomous Driving: The Long Wait
Musk has repeatedly promised that fully autonomous driving is just around the corner, but the public is still waiting. Back in April 2020, Musk tweeted that the robotaxi functionality was on track for release that year, with regulatory approval being the biggest hurdle. While some autonomous features are already available, safety concerns remain, as seen in numerous social media videos showing Tesla cars in “Full Self-Driving” mode making risky moves on the road.
Warner Bros. and Musk: A Surprising Partnership
It’s unclear why Tesla chose to hold the event at a movie studio, and both Tesla and Warner Bros. have remained silent on the matter. Tesla famously dissolved its media relations department, so getting answers is unlikely. However, it’s noteworthy that Warner Bros. is partnering with Musk, a figure who has become increasingly politically divisive. Once viewed as an innovative tech leader, Musk’s recent alignment with controversial figures like Donald Trump has changed his public image.
We’ll see if the October event goes ahead as planned—or if it gets delayed once more.
